1. Assess for signs: desaturation, RR > 30, accessory use, agitation

2. Call for help, apply high-flow oxygen or BVM

3. Reassess decision to intubate

4. RSI checklist: suction, airway gear, drugs

5. Ramped position, preoxygenate, apnoeic oxygenation

6. Intubate with backup airway plan ready
